About Us
Who We Are
Dental Arts of Tucson has been in business at the corner of Grant and Country Club since 1980. Dr. Richard Escobar designed and built the office, and was proud to provide high quality dental care for 52 years. Dr. Maskell is his ideal successor – dedicated to quality and customer service, he keeps the patient’s best interest at the forefront of his treatment plans.
Who Are Our Patients?
Everyone! We offer comprehensive care without judgement. There is no shame at Dental Arts of Tucson – only love. Everyone deserves to feel good and be healthy, even if you don’t feel healthy right now, we can make a plan and get you there together. It doesn’t matter if you have never seen a dentist in your life – what matters is you get scheduled and start your journey.
Even if you’ve never had a cavity in your life, you need a dentist and a dental hygienist to stay healthy. Come see us!
Meet Dr. Kevin Maskell
Husband of 23 years. Father of 2 boys. Combat veteran. A life of service.
I majored in mechanical engineering at Cornell University and joined the Air Force through ROTC in 1998. My wife Heather and I met as undergrads on the East Coast, though she is a Tucson native. You could say she brought me to the Old Pueblo, but the Air Force helped. We had 10 years of marriage behind us before our two boys came into our lives.
I flew as a navigator on EC-130H “Compass Call” aircraft based here at Davis-Monthan for about 10 years. Yes, I’ve been “over there” a few times. Now, most of the aircraft I flew are finding their way into the Boneyard. My Dad and I make nostalgic trips to the Pima Air and Space Museum from time to time – we both have logged hours on some of the actual airframes on display. Our boys were born while I was in Dental School. To them, I’ve always been a dentist.
I never dreamed I’d be a dentist until I was in my late 20s. In 2004 my father in law had some dental implants placed, and hearing about the process awakened something in me. I felt that I’d found a calling, and I knew I’d never felt this way about any of my undergraduate design projects. I worked at night, in between deployments to the Middle East, to qualify to apply to dental school. I had great supervisors in the Air Force that supported my mid-life career change.
I completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) 1-year residency at Nellis Air Force Base in 2013. I earned credentials for moderate IV sedation and found a real love for surgery. I spent a year in South Korea apart from my family, then returned to Tucson for another tour at D-M, this time as a dentist. In 2017 I left the Active Duty Air Force, though I continue to serve in the Air National Guard.
After 5 years of public health service in the Air Force, and another 5 years associated in other offices, I have found great professional satisfaction as an owner-operator. I’m grateful to have the team I “inherited” from Dr. Escobar. Lori, Adrienne, and MaryAnne are true professionals who put the patient first. Allison and Maria are wonderful additions since I’ve come on board. We can’t wait to take care of you!

I’d never met Dr. Maskell before, and I felt reassured that what may be a protracted series of procedures will be handled by him and his staff with professionalism and care. This seems likes a really nice place to work!
